Canon C100 ‘The Chair’ Vancouver

A conceptual short film shot on the Canon C100 was put together on the last minutes without script as this story is to show case the footages produced by Canon C100 can do. I rented the camera for a short film project and I thought it will be cool to show case some of the film footages mix with the test footages on the steadicam; as a result ‘The Chair’ is born. The actress scenes were shot on a Cinevate hand held rig with follow focus with a Canon 85mm F1.2L II. The Steadicam night shots were at 20,000 ISO and the day time shots with 2-stops build in filter, Canon 8-15mm F4 L fisheye with shutter angle 320 degrees.

I do enjoy shooting with the C100 as I have been shooting with the 5D Mark II and III, what I like about the C100 as it has peaking, waveforms, high iso and long shooting time. It is an ideal equipment I would use for my wedding and personal project, yes there are few limitation: Price $5,600, 4:2:0 color space, 1.6 crop factor and a video compression but again 4:2:2 can be used on external recorder. There is little I dislike of this camera as only the price, now only Canon will give us a big! New video cameras hit the market every 6 months, It is an exciting time to be a an independent film maker. Interesting, I’m still shooting with Canon 1014 super 8mm film camera from the 70’s!
