Warning: Using Canon LP-E6N battery with Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera

Canon LP-E6N Battery working with Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera

I have encounter a troublesome issue while using my one year old Canon Lp-E6N battery Lithium-Ion Battery (LP-E6N is the current Canon battery while LP-E6 is the older model without the ‘N’ at the ending and since been discontinued). To start off Note: My Canon LP-E6N came with my new purchase 7D Mark II therefore it is not a fake battery; it has little usage and is in excellent condition and worked flawlessly with both my Canon 5D Mark III and 7D Mark II. During a recent filming with the Micro Cinema Camera I have noticed the power get disconnected when the battery is moved slightly. While my three years old Canon batteries LP-E6 did not have any issue during filming. It is a concerning matter since my Canon Lp-E6N battery showed no sign of issue what so ever; I did went to my Vancouver camera store BeauPhoto and tried their rental battery Lp-E6N and worked fine. I do notice there is some free play where the battery sits outside of the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera and not sure if that also contribute the power connection issue; I’m hoping this is an isolate issue.

With this in mind I do WARN other users to test the Canon battery before filming by giving the battery a gentle wiggle. Please share with me if you have any solution or tips.

Remember this is my finding to my semi new Canon LP-E6N battery as it does NOT happen to my other Canon LP-E6N battery Vancouver Filmmaker Wayne Lam
