Outdoor Ice Hockey Game at Grouse Mountain

Canadian Ice Hockey Meant for Outdoor

Canadian Outdoor Hockey

When Thomas Zhou, my physiotherapist told me his evening plan for the night was to play outdoor ice hockey with his friends all physiotherapists at North Vancouver Grouse Mountain. With recent cold weather in Vancouver, BC; it was cold enough to have the outdoor ponds frozen thick enough to skate on. I was planning to head out to do some filming for this unusual weather event to capture some of the fun lower mainland Vancouver people is having. I asked Thomas if I can come and film. Then next thing, I packed 40 pounds of gears made my way up to the mountain; I have never been riding the gondola during the winter month, with the full moon it was a dark and beautiful night like in a movie scene. I was a bit late up to the mountain since the game already started, it was cold somewhere -5C or more there was no wind factor in and making the evening very enjoyable to film. I did feel my toes are the first to get cold then my fingers as I have to manual pull focus on my Canon C300 MkII with the Sigma 50-100mm. The players had a great time and I too but next time I will put fours pair of socks instead of two pairs.

Vancouver Filmaker Colorist Use Color for Storytelling

Digital Filming is part of the step to get footage into the computer, the magic review when color correction and color grading are added for the visual storytelling. Each story is told different therefore color theme is used in the project. Vancouver Cinematographer Filmmaker and Colorist uses Professional color grading software Blackmagic Design DaVince Resolve Studio version not the demo version for this project. The look I have created is more contrast and yet film look with more cyan and warm tones. The Canon C300 MkII, the color skin tones looking natural and a joy to grade compare to other camera gears I have filmed before. It is no wonder TV documentary and Film industry are using this tools for a reason.
